A note regarding pricing - It's not random, or set on a whim. We have been working hard to bring in and breed high quality animals, and our prices will follow a formula that reflects that. All bucks will be wethered at 8 weeks old if they are not reserved as bucks by that time.

All wethers will be priced at $175 each, or $300 for a pair.

All does and intact bucks will be priced based on the accomplishments of their dam. With the increase in hay and grain prices, I have made the decision to raise my base price by $50. I try to keep it affordable, but I have to be able to afford to keep my goats.  Pricing is as follows

Base Price: $400
*M in butterfat and/or protein: +$50
*M in production: +$50
E in mammary: +$50
Champion win: +$50 (max 4)
SG: +$50
LA 90 or above: +$50

GraniteAcres ID Wisteria x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B

May 9, 2022
Twins - 1 girl, 1 boy

Just like that, kidding season is over for another year.  Wisteria was probably the one I was most concerned about kidding, as she is a yearling, and didn't get as much of a growth spurt as the young ones typically do during their first pregnancy.  She did need some help, but she came through like a champ, and everyone is doing well.

GraniteAcres MB Aradia VEEE90 (*M pending) x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B

May 8, 2022
Triplets - 3 girls

Like Jen the night before, Aradia was slow to progress.  We were concerned about it being the same situation, so intervened sooner than we had with Jen.  This required manually dilating Aradia, which didn't take too long, as she was ready, and the first baby was presented back legs first.  We got her out, 2nd baby was properly presented, and came out pretty easily.  The last baby had her head tucked down, so required some manipulation, but she made it out just fine as well.  Aradia is sore, but everyone is doing well.

GraniteAcres PH JenLawrence VVEV87 (2*M pending) x Bellafire BP I Do *B VVE87

May 7, 2022
Triplets - 3 boys (1 DOA)

We knew Jen was in labor, but she seemed to just be taking her time.  We checked her, and she wasn't fully dilated, so we allowed to continue on her own for a while longer.  It became evident that she was going to require intervention, and upon checking again, it was determined that the first baby was breech, which was not making her dilate the way a headfirst baby would.  Unfortunately, that baby was already gone by the time he got out, but the other two boys are strong and healthy.

Almar Acres ARA Sweetpea x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B

May 6, 2022
Twins - 2 girls

We were running a bit late to get evening chores started, so just barely missed Sweetpea's kidding.  She had them out and was cleaning them up when we found them.  It's always a worry when first fresheners kid, but she did great.

GraniteAcres SP Nanda Devi VEVV87 x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B

May 6, 2022
Quads - 2 girls, 2 boys

Devi was able to kid no problem, and was taking excellent care of her babies, unfortunately, quads tend to be small, and the littlest one was just barely over a pound. Though she was standing, and had eaten, she just couldn't regulate her temperature, so she had to come inside to be a house goat.  She's doing wonderfully well, but it's going to take some time until she's big enough to go outside with the rest of the babies without getting squished.

GraniteAcres RM Mount Denali VVVV86 x Bellafire BP I Do *B VVE87

May 3, 3022
Triplets - 1 girl, 2 boys

I'm so tempted to keep the doeling from this cross.  I love how Denali's udder is improving with each freshening, and this combination with Dewey made some gorgeous kids.  But, I can't keep them all, so hopefully someone buys her fast so I don't give in.

April 29, 2022
Twins - 1 girl, 1 boy

Atlanta is like her mom, and popped out her babies with no drama.  Both are big and healthy, and I'm excited to keep the doeling and see how she develops.

GraniteAcres SP Rainier (6*M pending) VVVV86 x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B

April 28, 2022
Twins - 2 bucks

When we were doing chores last night, I noticed Rainier had filled her udder quite a bit from the previous night, and though her ligaments were still at least half there, I went ahead and put her in the kidding barn.  When we checked her in the morning, she was still chilling, and my sister thought I was out of my mind for locking her up already.  Turns out I was right.  She kidded twins unassisted, and everyone is doing well.

GraniteAcres WB Hot Toddy (*M pending) +VVV85 x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B

April 26, 2022
Twins - 1 doe, 1 buck

Toddy decided to take her time.  We put her in the kidding barn, since she was looking close, and all indications pointed to her kidding in the middle of the night.  Instead, she waited until around noon.  No fuss, she had them between checks, and all doing well.  These are the first kids we have on the ground from Strike, so I'm excited to see them.

April 24, 2022
Twins - 2 does

Another text book delivery.  The barn was empty, so we were able to do a deep clean, and get Kya moved in because she was looking close.  I had to take off for a couple hours, and when I got home she had the first one out, and was cleaning her.  She stood up to continue with the cleaning, and pushed out doe kid number two, which I just had time to catch before she hit the ground.  Kya is being an excellent mom, which I'm always happy to see with my first fresheners.

GraniteAcres RM Lahaina (3*M pending) +++V84 x Bellafire BP I Do *B VVE87

April 14, 2022
Twins - 1 doe, 1 buck

I love textbook style deliveries.  I went to check on Lahaina in the barn before starting the evening milking, and found her streaming goo, so started grabbing puppy pads and gloves.  Turned back around in time to see her lay down to start pushing (in the corner on top of some other babies that I had to rescue really quick. lol)  Without any yelling, she quickly pushed out the boy, who was in the proper position.  I cleaned him up a bit, and set him down in front of Lahaina, just in time to grab another puppy pad and catch the girl, also properly positioned.  Both babies are strong and healthy.  Start to finish, it was probably only a 10 minute delay to starting milking.

GraniteAcres RM Kamuela x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B

April 10, 2022
Single doe

Since her sister was sneaking in a kidding, Kamuela decided to do the same.  I didn't have her breeding date noted on the app I use to keep track of due dates, so wasn't watching her.  She popped out this darling big doeling no problem, though, and is taking excellent care of her.

GraniteAcres WB Kamikaze VEEV89 (2*M pending) x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B

April 10, 2022
Quads - 4 girls (2 doa)

Kamikaze is very good at sneaking in kidding.  She did it the previous 2 years, and this year was no exception.  I had 2 due dates noted for her: April 5 and April 13.  99% of the time, when two breedings are seen, the 2nd date is the correct date.  So I had checked on her around the first date, but didn't see anything indicating the first breeding was it, so was waiting until closer to the 2nd date to really harass her with close monitoring. Unfortunately, she really did take on the first breeding, and she couldn't keep up with cleaning quads.  It was a cold night, so, being wet still, 2 of the babies didn't make it.  One was almost gone when we found them, but a hot bath and some TLC brought her back, and she was able to go back out with her mama within an hour.  She's definitely a fighter.

GraniteAcres SW Phoenix x Bellafire BP I Do *B

April 8, 2022
Triplets - 3 boys

These gorgeous boys are such a disappointment.  This was a repeat breeding, that I had really hoped to keep a doeling from.  All the boys helps keep my numbers in check, but man it's tough checking babies and finding that they are boys when you're crossing your fingers for girls.

It's unusual for the girls to actually kid on their due date, and Rowan hid in the shelter to do it, so these boys were born without any fanfare.

SG GraniteAcres WB Andromeda (2*M pending) VEEV88 x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B

April 1, 2022
Triplets - 3 boys

I know that sex of kids is supposed to be determined by the buck, not the doe, but out of 14 kids, I have only gotten 3 does from Andromeda, and one of those was stillborn.  There has to be something from her causing that, even if it's just that she enjoys being a pain in the rear. I had hoped to keep a doeling from her this year, but, alas, that is not to be.  These boys would make nice herd sires, however.  And once ADGA gets Andromeda's milk star entered, they will all be *B.

March 21, 2022
Twins - 1 girl, 1 boy

These goats do love to keep me guessing.  Goldie was absolutely huge, so I was expecting quads from her again.  I got home from work late, went out to feed and check everybody, and she had already popped these two out, and had them up and dry.  They are good looking babies right from the get-go, so I'm excited to see how they look once they unfold.

SG Sun Catcher T Pequot (*M pending) VEEE91 x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B

March 19, 2022
Quads - 2 girls, 2 boys (all DOA)

This one was rough.  Pequot usually has pretty easy deliveries.  She's a wide doe, and can typically get the big ones out without too much effort.  What looks like happened is she had 3 babies, 1 boy and both girls, develop in one uterine horn.  The girls were tiny, and though they looked like they had been alive up until right before delivery, they never took a breath despite our efforts.  The problem came from their brother, who was a big boy, probably 6+ lbs.  It took calling in a friend, and a lot of effort to get him out, because he was badly positioned.  After those 3, we went back in twice, looking for more, but couldn't find anything.  She kidded about 11 pm, and I checked on her a couple times over the next couple hours before I went to bed, and she was doing ok.  When we went out the next day, however, she had delivered a 4th, normal-sized baby, who probably developed in the other uterine horn, which is why we didn't find him when we went looking.  He was further away from where the rest of the action was happening.  By the time she had him, she was so exhausted she didn't even try to clean him off, so he was still in the sac. Thankfully, Pequot is doing ok, and is helping to feed Sabrina's 4 babies, so she's not as unhappy as she might otherwise be.

Mistwood LJJ Calico Rose (6*M pending) VEEV88 x Bellafire BP I Do *B VVE87

March 19, 2022
Single - 1 Girl

Rose was not that big, and didn't have much udder development, so I figured she didn't take on the breeding to Dewey, and just got bred on cleanup.  So, I was rather surprised on my way out to check on another doe in the barn, to look over at the pasture and see a tiny baby standing there.

March 15, 2022
Quads - 2 Girls, 2 Boys

Sabrina started kidding season off with a bang for us.  She didn't look that big, so I was expecting twins.  Imagine my surprise to get the text at work that she had 4!  And she did it all by herself between checks.  They were all up, dry, and eating by the time they were found.
