Poppy Patch PB Pretty Woman X Prairie Wood TG Desert Sage

Kidded quads 3 girls, 1 boy June 18, 2014 at 6:30 am

Pretty Woman kept us waiting and waiting.  She got so big so fast, we thought she had taken on her first breeding, so had her in the watch pen for over a month.  Her 4 beautiful babies were sure worth the wait, and a nice way to end the kidding season.

GraniteAcres WB Adelheidl X TX Twin Creeks SEM Indian Summer

Kidded single boy June 15, 2014

We didn't think Heidi had taken in her breeding to Red Man, and didn't expect her to kid until July, so she wasn't even close to being on our radar.  It wasn't until my sister went out to feed that we knew she had kidded.  Unfortunately, he was gone when she found him.

SLR Minis Abba's Malibu X Proctor Hill Farm TKY Hooligan

Kidded triplets, 2 girls, 1 boy June 15, 2014 at 7:45 pm

I was already gone on vacation when Malibu kiddded.  She was a bit difficult before too.  Because the pen we usually have the girls kid in was in use by alaska with a broken leg, Malibu was in the same pen as Firefly and her new babies.  While she was in labor Malibu decided Firefly's babies were hers, and refused to let Firefly near them.  The kidding went pretty smoothly from what I heard, and she had 3 pretty babies for me.  The boy left as a bottle baby right away, before I got a pic.

Kidded twin bucks June 15, 2015 at 10:30 am

We were getting ready to leave for vacation when Firefly finally decided she was ready to present us with babies.  She was quick about it though.  The first baby was already on the ground when I got there, the second arrived just a few minutes later.  Firefly did very well, though unfortunately, she had boys.  Pics coming soon.

New Creations RM North To Alaska X Proctor Hill Farm TKY Hooligan

Kidded single doe June 5, 2014 at 10:45 am

Alaska was obviously getting close, so we decided to move Dakota out of the kidding area, to the new mama area, and put Alaska in so we could keep a closer watch on her.  Dakota was barely out of the way when Alaska decided it was time, and we got her inside within minutes of her delivery.  She had a good-sized girl, but delivered fairly easily.

Sun Catcher T Dakota X Prairie Wood TG Desert Sage

Kidded single buck June 5, 2014 at 10 am

Dakota was so big, I was sure she would have triplets, at minimum twins, so I was shocked when she had her boy, and nothing else.  We waited and double checked her belly several times, but finally had to admit he was it.  At 4.5 lbs he was big, but sure didn't account for her size!

Five Fold Farm Rockette X Proctor Hill Farm TKY Hooligan

Kidded single buck June 4, 2014

Because we've had so many kid a couple days before they were due, we went out 4 days early to bring Rockette in, only to find her little boy standing next to her already dry.

DF Farm CW Paint By Numbers X End Of The Line WithMyBootsOn

kidded twin girls June 1, 2014 at 6 am

Paint has a history of bad kiddings that require intervention, and this year we've had to treat her for hypocalcemia to get her through the end of her pregnancy.  Because of that, we wanted to be there for her kidding, in case she needed assistance, however, she had other plans.  We knew she was getting close, so had her in the kidding stall.  I checked her about 5 am, and didn't see super regular contractions, so figured she'd be fine for another hour or two.  But, when Mom checked her at 6:30 she had both little girls on the ground.

AJUD Amazing Grace X Poppy Patch SM Huckleberry

Kidded triplets 2 does, 1 buck May 31, 2014 at 4 pm

Amy has a history of multiples, and was big enough that she was obviously having multiples again.  Of course, I had to leave for work when she was just about to kid.  She had the first, the boy, just as I pulled into work, and had to hang up, so I had to wait a couple hours to hear that she had 2 girls to go along with the boy.  I've decided to change up my bloodlines a bit, so all are for sale, including Amy.

Kidded twin does May 29, 2014

I've gotten behind on updating kidding info, and it's been a couple weeks since this one.  They've started to blend together, there's been so many, so I don't remember anything about it.  Carolina has 2 beautiful little girls.  I may keep one, but haven't decided which yet, so both are available until one is purchased.

Five Fold Farm Double Stuff X Proctor Hill Farm TKY Hooligan

Kidded buck/doe twins May 22, 2014 at 9:30

Oreo went from 0 to 100 in nothing flat.  We went out to work on evening chores, and checked her to make sure she wasn't about to kid, since she had been talking all day, where she's usually quiet.  She was getting closer, but still had ligaments.  A couple hours later, the milking was done, everybody was fed, and we were just about to start cleaning the machine when she started pushing.  She delivered both babies quickly and easily, and they were both up nursing right away.  (E40 & E41)

Truffle is yet another that kidded before her due date, so was still out in the main pen.  We found her mostly dry babies when we went to get her to bring her to the watch pen.  She's taking good care of her boys.

GraniteAcres WB WeShallBeFree X New Creations RM Drive South *S *B

Kidded buck/doe twins May 9, 2014 at 6 am

Free really gave us fits trying to figure out when she was going to kid.  Like Belleau before her, right after morning chores she acted like she was about to go, so we moved her into the kidding pen.  I'm not sure if she stopped labor because of being moved and not being happy in a pen by herself, or if she really wasn't as close as she seemed.  Either way, it was almost 24 hours before she kidded.  I had gone out to check on her for the last time at 5 am, she didn't seem to be doing much of anything.  When my mom went out at 6, she had the first baby out, and the 2nd was halfway there.  She seems a little overwhelmed by the whole motherhood thing, but is figuring it out.  Pics coming. GraniteAcres HB Belleau Wood X Rebel Acres CC Nightshade

Kidded single girl  May 7, 2014 at 9 pm

Belleau really threw us off.  During morning chores I looked over to see her laying flat on her side, flailing a little.  We immediately moved her to the kidding pen, and kept a close eye on her, but nothing happened, not really any contractions.  Her ligaments were gone though, so we left her there.  Where she remained until right after evening chores were completed, when she delivered her 3.5 lb girl.  The baby had a large head, and Belleau is a fairly small doe, so it took some work, but all worked out well.

Elly kidded over the weekend, but I was able to get up so I could be there for it.  When I got the call I got up right away, but she already had one on the ground.  The other followed right after.  They're both lovely little girls.  One of the them was sold before I got pics.

SG Sugar Pine MB Myst *D 1*M X TX Twin Creeks SEM Indian Summer *S *B

Kidded boy/girl twins May 2, 2014 at 10 am

Myst has got to be the easiest kidder we have.  Her timing could have been better, though.  Mom was out of town, my sisters were in school, and I had two of the other girls on the milkstand when Myst started yelling.  It only took me literally a minute to get the other girls out, and get back to her, but Myst already had the boy on the ground.  While she was standing there getting him cleaned off, she gave one push and the girl pretty much fell out into my hands.  (E30 & E31)

kidded boy/girl twins May 1, 2014 at 9 am

Nutmeg was very considerate, waiting until we had just finished evening chores and we were about to head in, when she started pushing.  She quickly and easily delivered her twins, and both were up eating right away.  Though the boy did decide he would just eat laying down, rather than bother to stand up.  Boy available as a wether - pic coming soon.  (E28 & E29)

I missed this one, as I was at work.  So frustrating to have to leave, knowing one of the goats is about to kid, even if someone else will be there.  Tink's boys were big, but she's an excellent mom, and all of them are great.  One boy left before I was able to get his picture. (E26 & E 27)

Country Island Summer Paradise X Walla2Meadows Otto

Kidded twin boys April 25, 2014 at 4 am

Summer sure seems to like these early morning kiddings.  This makes 3 out of 4 at about 4 am.  It was actually a pretty text book delivery.  I went out to check before bed, knew she was close, moved her to the kidding area, got everything setup, and she pushed out both big boys, in the proper position, with minimal help from me within about 20 minutes of me going outside.  Both boys were up and nursing right away, so I was only delayed bed by about 30 minutes.

Kidded single buckling April 24, 2014 at 12 pm

Fire surprised us by kidding 2 days before her due date.  We went out to give the mid-day bottles to the other babies and discovered her with this cute little guy, already dry.  This is the first baby out of Indian Summer for us, and he's gorgeous, I love the silvering in the red.  I just wish he was a girl.  Guess I'm saying that a lot this year.

Lil Roughnecks Done It X Prairie Wood TG Desert Sage

Kidded twin bucklings April 12, 2014 at 2 pm

This was almost a repeat of last year for Done It and Sage, except she had boys, instead of girls.  And just like last year the first is a buckskin, second is a very pretty red.  Too bad though, we really were hoping to keep another doeling from this cross.

Pippin Hill MB Sapphire X Poppy Patch SM Huckleberry

Kidded single doe April 11, 2014 at 4:15 pm

Like Honey, Sapphire is a small doe, and her kid was pretty good sized, though was she was under 4 lbs at least.  I went out to check on her to see if she was getting close and needed to be moved to the kidding pen, only to discover she wasn't going to make it that far.  The bubble with the baby was already part way out.  She delivered like a champ, and everyone is doing well.

Kidded single doe April 11, 2014 at 11:15 am

I finally managed to be there for a kidding this year, and I'm glad I was.  Honey is a small doe, and her doeling was not.  We were able to get the kid out, and everyone was ok, but it did take some tugging.  I sure do hate when the girls have singles!

Sun Catcher T Pequot X Proctor Hill Farm TKY Hooligan

Kidded buck/doe twins April 6, 2014 at 4:45 pm

I wasn't around for Pequot's delivery, and haven't heard any details, so not much to report.  Other than, oh my goodness, these are some cute babies!  If I hadn't promised a friend she could have a doeling from this cross, the little girl would not be going anywhere.  I'm not even sure what color to call her, she's kind of taupe.  And while the boy is solid black (other than 3 white hairs on his poll) he's not really boring, because he's such a nice looking boy.  With how nicely put together Pequot is, and how lovely her udder is, he would make a good herdsire.

Pholia Farm HH Chai X New Creations RM Drive South

Kidded triplets 2 bucks, 1 doe April 5, 2014 at 10:30 pm

Chai had a rather long labor, and then a rough delivery.  The first was breech.  The second was head first, but the front legs were tucked back.  The third had one front leg forward, the other tucked back.  By the time she was to the third she was so tired she pretty much gave up pushing.  Everybody made it through, and Chai has recovered well, and is being her usual good mama self, even though she has 3 babies this time, rather than her usual 2.

GraniteAcres CC Trillium X Rebel Acres CC Nightshade

Kidded single buck April 4, 2014

We're actually not 100% sure when Trill kidded. Kiowa was in labor in the kidding stall, but because she wasn't due for 2 more days, no one was watching Trill.  We discovered her baby when we went to move her and a few more does into the "imminent, keep a close watch" pen.  He weighs right at 3 lbs, and is a flashy little thing.  Trill is doing well for a first time mama.  This little guy is sweet, but seems to be in a bit of a daze all the time, and pretty much never makes a sound.

Sun Catcher D Kiowa X Diji Farm MM Midnight Blue

Kidded twin does April 4, 2014 at 4pm

Kiowa kept us waiting for several days past her due date, then decided to kid on a day Mom and I both had to be gone for a few hours.  Ki actually belongs to one of my younger sisters, and she did well playing midwife.  Ki and her 4 lb babies came through it wonderfully, and the babies were up eating very quickly.  One is blue eyed, unfortunately, neither are polled.

June was due April 1st, which, considering she had twin boys, seems like it would have been an appropriate date, but she decided she didn't want to wait.  They are beautiful, and big at about 4.5 lbs each.  June got through it like a trooper.

HIRNV BB Oh-No Cassi X Diji Farm MM Midnight Blue

Kidded single doe March 25, 2014

Once again we were struck by phone service issues.  I checked on Cassi at 4am when I got home from work, and determined that she was in labor, but had a few hours, so sent Mom a text to check her when she got up.  The text didn't go through to her until Cassi had already delivered by herself.  I wish we had been there for her, as the doeling was about 4.5 lbs, and Cassi is not a big doe, but she made it through, and both are doing wonderfully.  I'm inclined to keep her.  Still not 100% sure, but for now, she's retained.

Velvet Acres Teaberry X End Of The Line WithMyBootsOn

Kidded triplets - 2 does, 1 buck on March 20, 2014 at 7:40 pm

Tea was so big, we were sure she would have triplets again, as she has for us every year so far.  When she kidded the first two arrived right together, and when we checked her she didn't really seem to have anything that felt big enough for another baby, so we thought we were wrong.  Then about 20 minutes after the first two were born, the last one, a little girl, almost seemed to fall out.  She was much smaller, just over half their size, and didn't thrive right away, but with some TLC she has really taken off, and is doing well.  For the first few days when you held her facing you she looked just like a baby rabbit, which led to the names for this trio: Lola Bunny, Bugs Bunny, and Babs Bunny.  Babs and Bugs left together at a couple days old before I had time to get pictures, and are being happily spoiled. (E3, E4, & E5)

Sun Catcher MS Blue Sioux X Diji Farm MM Midnight Blue

Kidded buck/doe twins March 20, 2014 at 8:30 am

Well, Wyatt's girl Sioux won the race for the first to kid.  She really kept us guessing when she would go though.  She started streaming fluids in the evening, so not wanting Wyatt's girl to be by herself, just in case there was a problem, I sat up with her through the night.  By 5:30 am, with no sign of kids, and my temperature having dropped to just above hypothermia levels, I threw in the towel, and called Mom to hang with her.  Problems with phone service meant that I missed her kidding when she finally got around to it.  She gave us beautiful twins, both are blue-eyed, with the potential to be homozygous for them.  I'm sure the buck is polled, and think the girl is to.
